Epoca means ‘era’, a long and distinct period of history. And the history of rugs covers about the same time span as human history because people have been using rugs since the early days of mankind. Over 5,000 years ago and around the globe people are producing and using carpets. 

Our store is located in Göcek. According to the legends, it is in the Göcek area that Icarus landed in the sea after his famous flight trying to escape from the tower where he was imprisoned.

 

Epoca store offers a collection of carpets from 10 to 300 years old from all around Turkey, but also from Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Russia, Bulgaria, Armenia, and Turkmenistan. Oriental carpets are amazingly rich in symbolism: a combination of colors and shapes can represent fertility, strength, bravery, good luck, hope, wealth, purity, harmony or a gateway to paradise.
